L293 برای کنترل موتور از درایور Motor Driver استفاده می‌شود. درایور موتور یک رابط بین میکروکنترلر و موتور می‌باشد. با این روش میتوان توسط جریان ناچیز میکروکنترلر، یه یک موتور با جریان زیادتر و ولتاژ متفاوت فرمان داد. شیلد موتور L293D از دو درایور موتور L293D و یک شیفت رجیستر 74HC595 تشکیل شده است. شیفت رجیستر برای کنترل جهت درایورهای موتور 3 پین از آردوینو را به 8 پین توسعه می دهد. خروجی L293D، enable مستقیما به خروجی ها PWM آردوینو متصل می شود. L293 یک درایور چهار کاناله یکپارچه برای پشتیبانی از ولتاژ و جریان بالا می باشد. با استفاده از این درایور می توانید از موتور های دی سی و منبع تغذیه با ولتاژ حداکثر 36 ولت در پروژه خود استفاده نمایید.درایور موتور L293 مناسب برای آردینو مگا و UNO R3 می‌باشد وبا ولتاژ 3.6 تا 4.5 ولت کار می‌کند. هر کانال می تواند تا حداکثر 600 میلی آمپر جریان دهی نماید ، همچنین چیپ L293D به H-Bridge نیز معروف می باشد. در مجموع H-Bridge مداری است که امکان بارگزاری ولتاژ را به یک خروجی مثل موتور فراهم می کند.

Each channel of this module has the maximum current of 1.2A and doesn’t work if the voltage is more than 25v or less than 4.5v.
